Designer Rugs

A designer rug isn’t a backdrop; it’s the starting point for a room. This collection brings together rugs with distinctive designs: striped Gabbehs from the Zagros Mountains, graphic Loribafts, artistic Sari Silk compositions and soft, organic shapes. Most are hand-knotted from wool, sometimes with silk or viscose. Choose a pattern that lets your furniture speak—or starts the conversation.

Four design directions

The collection is divided into four styles. Striped rugs bring rhythm and make a room appear longer or wider. Geometric rugs work with blocks, rectangles, and lines, such as Urban Nature. Artistic rugs read like a painting on the floor, with faded surfaces and brushstrokes. Organic rugs feature fluid shapes and edges that do not always run straight.

From nomadic work to sari silk

Many designer carpets in this collection have an artisanal origin. Gabbeh Zagros and Loribaft are knotted in Iran, in the tradition of nomadic tribes from the Zagros Mountains. They have a thick pile and simple, powerful motifs. Sari Silk rugs contain recycled silk from Indian saris, which provides an irregular sheen. S-Texture and Monalisa combine wool with viscose for a silky relief.

Combining with your interior

A strong pattern calls for calm furniture. Bring back one color from the rug in cushions, a throw, or a wall. A large motif only comes into its own with space around it, so choose a size that is on the larger side. In a small room, fine stripes or a tone-on-tone design work better than large blocks. Viscose has a beautiful sheen, but is best placed in an area where there is little risk of spills. If you are doubting between two designs, picture them next to your floor. A warm oak floor requires different shades than grey tiles or light concrete. The direction of stripes also matters: placed lengthwise, a narrow room will appear longer.

Een Gabbeh is een handgeknoopt wollen kleed uit Iran, oorspronkelijk gemaakt door nomaden in het Zagrosgebergte. Kenmerkend zijn de dikke, iets langere pool en de eenvoudige motieven: strepen, vlakken of kleine figuren. De wol wordt vaak met natuurlijke kleurstoffen geverfd, waardoor de kleur licht kan variëren. Door hun grafische eenvoud passen Gabbeh's goed in moderne en Scandinavische interieurs.

Sari silk is zijde die afkomstig is van gedragen of overgebleven Indiase sari's. De stof wordt tot garen verwerkt en in een vloerkleed geknoopt. Omdat de zijde uit verschillende sari's komt, verloopt de kleur onregelmatig en glanst het kleed levendig. Sari silk is zacht en kleurrijk, maar gevoeliger voor water dan wol. Het past daarom beter in een woonkamer dan in een eetkamer.

Werk met verschil in schaal. Heeft het vloerkleed een groot motief, kies dan stoffen met een klein patroon of effen vlakken. Laat minstens één kleur terugkomen, zodat het geheel samenhangt. Combineer niet meer dan twee sterke patronen in één blikveld. Een gestreept kleed met een geometrische stof werkt bijvoorbeeld goed, zolang de kleuren uit dezelfde familie komen.

Ja, mits u rekening houdt met de eigenschappen. Viscose geeft een zijdeachtige glans en voelt zacht, maar de vezel wordt zwakker als hij nat wordt. Vlekken van water of koffie kunnen kringen geven. Leg een kleed met viscose daarom niet onder de eettafel of bij de ingang. In een zithoek of slaapkamer houdt het zijn uitstraling lang vast.

Zeker. Een design tapijt kan een klassiek interieur juist verfrissen. Kies een ontwerp dat een kleur uit uw bestaande meubels of schilderijen oppakt, zodat het kleed verbindt in plaats van botst. Abstracte of vervaagde patronen werken goed naast antiek hout. Strakke geometrie geeft meer contrast en past bij een interieur waar u bewust oud en nieuw mengt.
