What is Care & Fair?
Care & Fair is an international non-profit organization that has been working for over 30 years to improve living and working conditions in the handmade rug industry of South Asia.
Active in India · Nepal · Pakistan
These countries produce the majority of handmade carpets in the world. Affiliated importers donate 1% of the import value to education and health programs for local communities. More than 200 carpet importers worldwide are affiliated with Care & Fair.

At Koreman, we believe that every rug tells a story: about the weaver who made it, the community behind it, and the carefully selected materials. Over the years, we have built personal relationships with the best weavers in India, Nepal, and Pakistan. We know how our rugs are made: sustainably, fairly, and with respect for people and nature.

Good working conditions
Safe workplaces, fair wages, and reasonable working hours for every employee.
National occupational health and safety legislation
Producers demonstrably comply with applicable local labor laws.
Right to control
Care & Fair has access at all times to inspect production facilities.
Basic medical care
Employees and their families have access to basic healthcare.
Education for children
Children of carpet weavers gain access to free and quality education.
Women's empowerment
Active programs to structurally support women in the carpet regions.

Transparency in our supply chain
We only purchase carpets from suppliers who are demonstrably affiliated with Care & Fair or a similar recognized certification. For us, this is not a formality: it is a choice we consciously make anew with every purchase.
1% of every purchase · Directly to the community
Specifically, this goes to new school buildings, teaching materials, medical clinics, and programs that offer children and women a future outside the weaving sheds.
